EU, Emergency and Airline Crisis

Editorial

The concept of EU during these years has been deeply related to the one of mobility. The enthusiasm created by the emphasis put upon this concept went on in parallel with a huge increase for (mainly) the low-cost airlines business. Now, during these hard times of pandemics, both low and regular cost airlines face the risk of a failure or at least of a huge loss in the usual income. For how strange it may seem this issue could have not only economical and social consequences, but even political ones. Not only airports and airlines will have to rethink themselves and the condition of their workers, but also how the EU can possibly end up rethinking itself, or at least its image together with this situation. This NEU issue is dedicated to finding some good answers to this question which we do think will become central in the debate of the next months. Enjoy your reading.
