Europe Digital Strategy: The evolution of the single market towards common data spaces

Editorial

In 2022 special attention has already been – and will increasingly be dedicated to the Digital Transition. This relates to all aspects of the social, political and economic life of European Countries. But besides making it mandatory for EU Members that will benefit from RRF resources to have a percentage of the projects and investments dedicated to the digital transition, the Commission itself is at work to transform the single market in a digital way and towards common data spaces. In particular on the 23 February 2022, the Commission proposed a Regulation on harmonized rules on fair access to and use of data. This regulation, named the Data Act, is a key pillar of the European strategy for data and it has as its main goal to make Europe a leader in the data economy in order to benefit the European economy and society.
