Opened on February 11, the application period for the 2025 EU Organic Production Award will remain open until April 27.

As part of the Action Plan for the Development of Organic Production (March 2021), the Award, first launched in 2022, represents a non-financial recognition for the commitment and achievements of various stakeholders along the organic value chain.

This year, the award includes 6 categories (and 7 awards) for different actors in the organic value chain who have developed an excellent, innovative, sustainable, and replicable project that has provided real added value to the production and consumption of organic products.

The awards are jointly organized by the European Commission, along with the European Economic and Social Committee, the European Committee of the Regions, COPA-COGECA, and IFOAM Organics Europe.

The awards to be given this year will be:

  • Best Organic Farmer and Best Organic Female Farmer
In this category, which awards two prizes, particular attention will be given to projects by young farmers (aged 40 or under) to increase their visibility. This award is organized by COPA-COGECA and IFOAM Organics Europe.
  • Best Organic Region/Biodistrict, organized by the European Committee of the Regions.
  • Best Organic City, organized by the European Committee of the Regions.
  • Best Organic Food Processing SME, organized by the European Economic and Social Committee.
  • Best Organic Food Retailer, organized by the European Economic and Social Committee.
  • Best Organic Restaurant/Catering Service, organized by the European Economic and Social Committee.

Each category has its own specific online application form and evaluation criteria.

Eligible applicants for each award category must be established/resident in an EU Member State.

The projects submitted must be completed or have reached a good level of implementation so that their real added value for promoting organic products can be assessed.

Winners of previous editions are not eligible to apply.

The winners will be awarded, as every year, on September 23, European Organic Day.
