Dear readers,

we are glad to present you with the last issue for 2014 of Newsletter for the European Union, before the Christmas break.

In this issue you will find two articles related with the current situation in Ukraine, as it is clearly one of the major concerns for the international arena and the energy market.

In the Economy section we will discuss the economic policy mix suggested by Mario Draghi – after the previous issue’s focus on structural reforms – by covering monetary and fiscal policies.
We will also follow the debate on the controversial TTIP agreement, as well as the migration initiative recently put in place between the European Union and the Horn of Africa.
To conclude, an highlight on the Innovation Prizes, a new instrument under the Horizon 2020 framework soon to be opened for the first time.
