Recent detection of a Chinese balloon, that was hovering over US territory allegedly recollecting intelligence data, spawned alarm in the US Government and Pentagon. Although the possible security violation happened in the US, NATO’s Jens Stoltenberg remarked how NATO will remain vigilant also due to increased China’s intelligence activities in other countries as well as in Europe. European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen recently commented on the vigilance the EU must maintain also concerning “hidden subsidies” applied by the Chinese government not only in the clean-tech domain but in diversified sectors.
