On 21 March, during the European Humanitarian Forum, the European Commission launched the first edition of InnovAid, the European Prize for Humanitarian Innovation.
The new initiative, supported by the European Innovation Council (EIC) through the Horizon Europe programme, aims to reward bodies that have developed innovative technological solutions that provide quality care to people affected by crises and natural disasters, while also improving efficiency and the cost-benefits of the humanitarian response.
The competition is open to non-governmental humanitarian organizations, international organizations and other legal entities established in one of the EU countries or countries associated with Horizon Europe.
The Prize will be awarded to three winners and will consist of a cash sum of € 250,000, € 150,000 and € 100,000, respectively for the first, second and third classified.
Applications can be submitted until 3 October 2023.
